Carrigtwohill United - 3
Watergrasshill - 2

Report:

In a pulsating encounter Carrigtwohill got off to a winning start in their league opener against Watergrasshill. In a game that Carrigtwohill dominated for large parts, chances missed nearly cost the 3 points.
Numerous players were guilty of shooting from about 30 yards instead of lifting the head and finding the pass.

Once Carrigtwohill put the ball on the floor they opened up the opposition at will, a great move involving Tristan Ó Donovan breaking the ball up in Carrigtwohill and releasing Pranav on the wing who gave a great ball to Malachy Kelleher who shot 1st time with the keeper tipping the ball around the post.

From the resulting corner kick the ball broke to Malachy after a challenge in the air from Ryan Moore on the goalkeeper and Mal made no mistake with a toe poke into the net 1 - 0.
Carrigtwohill kept probing, some excellent play down the wing between Sam Collins and Ryan Moore resulted in a 25 yard piledriver from Sam which just whistled past the upright.
Carrigtwohill’s dominance got rewarded before half time when Malachy received a ball from midfield off Aaron Sheehan and nutmegged the defender and fired a bullet into the top left corner, unstoppable, 2-0 HT.

Second half started in the same fashion with Carrigtwohill peppering the oppositions’ goal but not getting the luck to make a 3rd goal to kill the game off, and it was to prove costly.
A clearance from the oppositions box went all the way down to the Carrigtwohill box and a lapse in concentration proved costly as the opposition scored 2-1.

The opposition were playing now with their tails up and drew level with 15 minutes to go with a header from a corner which should of been cleared 2-2.
This seemed to give Carrigtwohill a wake up call and they dominated the last quarter of the game, Ryan, Sam and Alex Motriuk all going close to getting the winner but to no avail.

Cometh the hour and cometh the man with some individual brilliance from Malachy made it 3-2 to the hosts, FT.
