Kinsale AFC – 3
Carrigtwohill United – 2

As they say, it’s only a game of football and anything is possible. It is hard to believe that we came away empty handed from Madden Park. Playing against the wind and very much in ascendance and full control of the game. Carrigtwohill went ahead when Rollie Durango headed in a cross into the box after some good work on the left with about 20 mins into the game.

Just 5 mins later, Kinsale got an equalizer after sending a looping pass over the top, that got onto their on-rushing striker to score. Moments later they showed a bit of class to outsmart our midfield and beat our defenders to go 2:1 up before half-time. Going into second half it was all Carrigtwohill creating chance after chance that on any other day we could have scored 7 goals. But for some reason it was just not happening. We eventually drew level as Rollie got his second toe-pocking a shot beyond the keeper after getting onto a through pass from Evan O’Connor.

It would have been fair in some ways to come out with a draw but however with about 10 mins to go Kinsale pounced against run of play when they got to the end of a rebound after Cillian Murphy made a brilliant save. Even after that setback Carrigtwohill kept threatening with two chances that on any other day we could have equalized and won the match.

Final result 3:2 to Kinsale doesn’t by any chance reflect how this game went. Four points in 3 matches isn't what this team deserve given the performance, but going into this premier league from Div 1A we knew it was never going to be easy. We look forward to bounce back to winning ways next weekend in FAI Youth cup vs Carrigaline United.

Scorers: Rollie Durango 2
