We travelled to Fermoy last Saturday looking to get back on track after a narrow loss to Ringmahon in the last fixture.
We came out of the blocks quickly with some great possession play with Karol, Isaac and Jamie controlling from the back, Aaron and Jack Beechinor probing on the wings. Fionn and Dylan kept us solid in the middle leaving Owen and Mickey to dominate midfield. Fermoy went into a defensive shape early leaving little space for Nathan.
After practically dominating the ball we were hit by a sucker punch when Fermoy sent in a hopeful cross that ricocheted to their striker who struck from close range. One nil at half time.
Josh and Jack Lombard were introduced and we changed our shape slightly. The lads knew themselves that they were the better team and you could see there was no panic- only belief. So with 35 minutes remaining the lads were staring at back to back defeats.

The next 35 minutes saw some of the best football we’ve seen from them. Fermoy cleared a certain goal off the line in the first minute and this was the first incident of sustained pressure for the rest of the game. Owen had two free kicks that looked like certain goals saved. Josh picked up a loose clearance from the goalkeeper and was unlucky with a shot from 30 yards out. The equaliser came from a sublime pass from Owen to a perfect diagonal run from Aaron who whipped it in to the bottom corner. Oisin was then introduced who offered us something different on the left and we continued to turn the screw, keeping possession and creating lots of opportunities. The winner finally came from another superb pass from Owen to an electric Nathan who slotted it passed the onrushing keeper. His celebration was just as impressive as the goal using the corner flag as a prop!!
Odhran was also introduced making us even more solid and we saw out the game comfortably by keeping the ball.
A very satisfying result made possible by great character and quality.
