Hard works pays off !

 

Carrigtwohill possibly played their best game of the season so far with a relentless & real team performance against Carrigaline this morning. 

 

From the off it was clear, Carrig meant business and pressed, fought and challenged Carrigaline for every ball. Carrigs immense work rate and pressure stopped Carrigaline creating any clear cut chances and kept a dangerous side under control.  

 

Alan O Brien at center back was a powerhouse, dominating defence with his back line comrades of Callum Foley (Capt), Kyle O Donovan & Darragh Culley who all also played brilliantly with Patrick Vasseur commanding the line in front of them. Carrig had a few half chances but had the lions share of possession and looked more likely to score but no goals on the board to show for their efforts. 0-0 First Half. 

 

Carrig started the second half with the same energy and attitude as they began the first so it was a fright when on 50 mins they gave away a penalty that could have cost them dearly. Jack Gilley who was superb again today was delighted when the Carrigaline penalty taker took his advice and sent the ball high over the bar !

 

55 mins - Evan Foley played a nice through ball ahead of Tundae Kareem who cooly sent the ball to the back of Carrigalines net. 1-0.

 

66 mins - Robert Cotter who had an outstanding game today arrived up to take a corner, he perfectly curled his kick towards the goal and caught the keeper off guard who got a hand to it but could not stop it. 2-0

 

74 mins - In a nice build up Alex Kimak skillfully turned his marker and passed to Tundae Kareem who slipped the ball to Evan Foley who was well placed to fire the ball home 3-0.

 

In the last minutes of the game Carrigaline scored a scrappy and possibly flukey goal as it more like a pass than a shot that surprised the Carrig defense and goal keeper 3-1

 

Ben Kelly, Jake O Sullivan, Kai Guler, Zach Flynn and Rian O Conor all played their part in contributing to a great team effort and win !
