Report:
Carrigtwohill United finished the year on a positive note sharing the spoils in a hard fought 2-2 draw away to Mallow United Sunday morning.
The home side started well and took the lead on 20 minutes when midfielder Stephen Doody struck a wonder goal from 30 yards and just before the break Mallow doubled their lead when a cross into the box for once eluded the ever-steady back three of Tom O Brien, Michael Deasy and David Grimes. Mallow’s striker Tom Cahill was on hand to turn the ball home and Carrigtwohill found themselves 2-0 down at halftime despite seeing plenty of the ball, creating chances of their own and defending well throughout the half.
Not deterred by the scoreline Carrigtwohill started the second half brightly and were getting some joy down the left side with Ronan Browne and Caolan Dennigan linking well.
A series of corners and free kicks were won by the visitors and when Paul Browne floated a lovely ball into the box Tom O Brien rose highest to power a header low into the bottom corner.
20 minutes to play and Carrigtwohill were starting to get the upper hand, but Mallow were not going to relinquish their lead easily and scrapped for every ball, looked dangerous on the counter and this made for a feisty and exciting finale.

As the clock ticked towards the 90th minute a mix up in the Mallow defence was pounced upon by the hard working Antoin Hervas Barry and the number '10' slotted the ball home with aplomb for the equaliser.
With four or five minutes of added time being played Carrigtwohill pushed for a winner, but a couple of half chances could not be converted as the effects of a heavy pitch and a hard fought game took its toll.
Well done to both sides for a highly entertaining game.
