The lads played their second game of the New Year and hoped to continue their good form after a win against passage last time out.
The first few minutes of the game, set the tone for a match with both teams, not giving an inch. It was Wilton, who took an early lead when we failed to clear a corner, we levelled the game a few minutes later when Jerry broke from midfield and played Adam in on goal to finish confidently. Wilton had the better of the first half, but the lads held out till halftime
After a quick regroup, the lads upped their game and started to create more chances. Martin and Charlie were getting some space and Daniel did very well when introduced. We took a deserved lead when Adam beat two men before finishing to put us ahead. Five minutes later, Adam turned provider. He collected a great pass from Charlie squaring into Noah to make a 3-1.
To their credit Wilton kept going and put pressure on us for the rest of the match but the back four of Rian, Cillian, Jack and Liam were superb on the day. We thought we had made it 4-1 from Jerry’s volley only to be denied by a superb save from the Wilton keeper. Lewis and Ben were introduced and put in a great shift to help see the game out.
Today was a tough game with a huge effort put in by the lads, lots of whom weren’t feeling 100%. Rian, Jack and Martin put in notable performances and thanks to Cillian for helping us out on the day. Player of the match goes to Adam with two goals and an assist, and he was a constant threat.
Well done lads.
