Carrigtwohill United - 4
Corkbeg - 2
Report:
We were back in League action for the 1st time in almost 8 weeks and produced the performance of the season so far.
Straight from the kick off Carrigtwohill were pressing all over the pitch which resulted in a great opportunity for Zayd but unfortunately he just pushed his shot the wrong side of the post.
From the resulting kick out Carrigtwohill took the lead when smart play from Ryan Moore intercepted a poor kick out and rounded the defender and slotted the ball into the bottom corner 1 - 0.
Some beautiful play down the wing from Fionn released Pranav who tore passed the full back and squared the ball into the path of the in rushing Ryan whose 1st time shot flew passed the keeper 2-0.
Some scrappy play for the next few minutes, resulted in a goal to the opposition after a lapse of concentration at the back, 2-1.
A neat move in midfield between Tristan and Sam, whose through ball fell to Malachy who unleashed a 20 yard pile driver tipped over the bar from the keeper, from the resulting corner Carrigtwohill scored again with a bullet header from Ryan into the top corner, great ball in by Evan.
Ht
Carrigtwohill started the 2nd half in devastating fashion with chances for Luke, Charlie and Jack in quick succession but the opposition no. 5 was in inspirational form, with block after block.
Finally Carrigtwohill got a 4th from the penalty spot from Ryan after Charlie was brought down, 4-1.
In an overly physical 2nd half Carrigtwohill did not take a backwards step and fought for every ball which was a delight to see, the opposition scored a consolation with 10 minutes to go but Carrigtwohill ran out comfortable winners in the end.
Every player 1-14 played there part today and affected the game in different ways, a special mention to Ryan Moore who was unplayable today and ran the opposition ragged at times and scored a measely 4 goals.
Best for Carrigtwohill Christopher Ó Reilly, Evan Tovey and Fionn Barry.
