What a night for Carrig! On a scorching hot evening, the team dug deep to earn their first ever win and clean sheet, overcoming a relentless Kilworth side who never stopped running — even with no subs available.

The first half saw Carrig dominate possession, with early efforts from Rachel going just wide. Bláithín kept driving at the defence with real intent, and Rachel forced a save from the keeper that led to a great corner delivery, only just missing the target.

Carrig kept the pressure on with long-range efforts from Grace and Eadaoin, a strong run from Neasa, and constant forward movement. The breakthrough came with some magic: a clever backheel from Sarah M set up Bláithín, who chipped the keeper beautifully to make it 1-0 before the break. 💫

In the second half, Sophie and Neasa linked up well to create more chances. Katie made a storming run from left back, setting up Ciara for a shot. The second goal came from a perfect ball through by Sarah C, with Rachel taking a touch and calmly finishing for 2-0. 👏

Neasa came close a few more times, including a powerful effort saved well, and a disallowed goal for handball. Sarah C then played a beautiful ball over the top that nearly led to a stunning half-volley. Finally, Sarah M slotted home Carrig’s third, sealing a well-earned victory. 🔥

Nicola was composed throughout, dealing with every Kilworth attack with confidence. Shots from Marie and Sophie kept the pressure on to the end.

A brilliant team performance in brutal heat. Huge credit to every player for pushing through, showing class and fitness, and keeping a clean sheet.
