It was back to the league after another few weeks off for the lads this morning and it was back to winning ways. On a morning that was perfect for football, it was important to start quickly.
The boys took this on board, and it was exactly what they done. Great work from Luke got the ball to Aaron who played it to Cormac. Cormac played an intelligent ball to Zayd who calmly slotted the ball away. The boys kept working hard to play football and Darragh Sullivan’s excellent persistence allowed him to put Zayd in on goal to make the score 2-0 with another fantastic finish.
The defence of Luke, Sam, Eoin and Dara were solid and refused to give any chances away until about 25 minutes in, when Rian made a fantastic save to keep the game at 2-0. Rian’s ability to play out from the back gave us a solid base to attack. Our midfield of Finn, Sam and Aaron worked hard in the middle where a lot of the ball remained in the first half. Cormac and Kai were up and down the wings all day helping Zayd up against the Ballinhassig back 4.
The second half followed the same pattern where the boys were asked to work relentlessly off the ball and be creative on it. James and Thomas were calm in defence and Fionn done excellent work to keep us moving up the pitch. Adam Cotter battled throughout and helped us hold out for an important 2-0 win.
A big thank you to Rian and Adam from the under 12’s who helped us out today.
Captain on the day: Darragh Sullivan
