Under-15’s celebrate *PROMOTION* to Premier Division

 A season to celebrate!!

We just wanted to reach out and share how incredibly proud we are of the boys after our final League match last weekend. We came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 in really tough, hot conditions, and their determination and resilience shone through. It wasn’t easy out there in the sun, but the lads never gave up and fought back to level the game. Their performance was a real testament to their spirit and grit and this ultimately delivered a Runners-Up spot and promotion to Premier Division next season.

This season has seen such an amazing turnaround for our team. Last year we were down near the bottom, and after results went our way today, we have now earned promotion to the Premier Division!!. It’s been a brilliant journey, for the coaches & players and that kind of improvement only comes through consistent effort, learning, and belief.

We also want to recognise some individual milestones. Over the past two years, five of our players — Isaac, Aaron, Owen, Nathan and Mikey — have represented the Cork Schoolboys League. That’s a huge achievement for any club, let alone one of our size, and it reflects both the talent in the group and the supportive environment that surrounds them.

A special mention too for Isaac, who unfortunately has been out with a recurring ankle injury and hasn’t yet been able to return for the last few games of the season. Despite the frustration he must be feeling he’s remained positive and valued part of the squad, always there to support his teammates. We really admire his attitude and resilience, and we’re all wishing him a full recovery and can’t wait to see him back on the pitch with us.

Over the past 18 months to two years, there’s been some movement between the squads at this age group. Five players have joined our group from the U15A team, and five others from our team moved across to U15A. Importantly, every one of those boys has stayed with the club and remains a key part of Carrigtwohill United. This reflects a pathway we believe in — where players develop at different stages, and we support them to play at a level that best suits their growth and enjoyment. The fact that these transitions happened so smoothly speaks volumes about the maturity of the players and the strength of our team environment.

It’s also worth recognising how truly local this team is. Fourteen of the sixteen boys are from just three estates in Carrigtwohill, and the remaining two attend Carrigtwohill Community College. Every single player is part of our small community, and that shared sense of place and identity has played a big role in how connected and committed the group has been this season.

We’re also very aware of the bigger picture in Cork football. Here in Carrigtwohill we’ve chosen to focus on developing what we have, building from within, and doing things in a way that reflects our values. This year shows that it can work.

Across the season, we’ve run close to 100 training sessions — something only possible thanks to the incredible commitment of the players and support from all of you, from training session to matches(both home & home away). The Premier and Division 1 leagues demand that kind of consistency, commitment & added support on match days., and it’s something this group has delivered time and again.

Looking ahead, we’re really excited about the future of this team & club. The new ASTRO in Ballyadam is expected within 14–16 months and having top-quality facilities will only help us raise standards and give these lads every chance to thrive as they move into youth football(16+).

More important than anything though are the life lessons being learned along the way — teamwork, discipline, resilience, friendships and how to bounce back from setbacks. These things can’t be taught in a classroom, but they’re picked up out on the pitch, week by week. It’s been an incredible season, and we’re proud of the way this group has done it: together, with a clear identity, and a real sense of purpose.

Well done to the entire squad – finishing runners up and getting promoted to Premier is a significant achievement and they should all be very proud of this.

Thanks again for your continued support.
