What an amazing day in Ballyadam and we are all very proud of the performance of our Under-16 girls !

The girls faced off in the quarter-finals of the FAI U17 Womens National Cup this afternoon against Callan United from Kilkenny. The opposition, were not only a year older but had last year fallen at semi-final stage against Dublin kingpins Mervue United by a single goal.

The weather was glorious and Ballyadam was packed with a huge crowd of supporters and the girls did not disappoint. It was a tough match, with chances on both sides, but Carrigtwohill came close on a number of occassions in both halves without being able to find the net.

It was a immense effort by each and every player and Callan were held to half-chances and through balls which were dealt with ably by our defence.
Somehow, it felt this match would go all the way and so it did - to a penalty shoot-out

It is often said that shoot-outs are a lottery but in this case, the dice never quite bounced right for our girls with one shot hitting the crossbar, another taking a wicked deflection from a divot and the final penalty stopped dead on the white line.

So it was the Kilkenny side that progressed to the semi-final and best of luck to them

Well done to each and every one of the girls who made their club and village very proud
Thanks to Lorraine and Karen for organising the refreshments afterwards
