Carrigtwohill United - 2
Rathcormac - 1

Report:
Castlelyons was the venue this evening for clash against top-of-the-table Rathcormac—a must-win game if Carrigtwohill were to keep their hopes of silverware alive this season.

After an unusual warm-up in the playground 😃 the lads delivered a superb performance from start to finish. The only thing missing for most of the game was that final touch in front of goal. Throughout the match, we adapted with several formation and positional changes, showing how the lads are maturing as players all the time.

The breakthrough finally came with 10 minutes left on the clock. A tactical switch saw Ryan Barry pushed up front, and he made an immediate impact—rifling a stunning strike into the roof of the net from 20 yards out. Just five minutes later, Ryan doubled his tally. The move started deep in our own corner with JP’s incredible work rate helping us break out. He linked with Paulie, who delivered an absolutely inch-perfect through ball. Ryan rounded the keeper with composure and slotted home to make it 2–0.

There were great scenes on the sideline as Carrigtwohill celebrated not just the win, but a leap to the top of the table—for the first time this year. With one game remaining, we’ve put ourselves in a fantastic position. With a couple of teams having a game in hand over us we have put the pressure firmly back on their shoulders.

While the entire team has been outstanding and no one player deserves to be singled out, a special mention must go to Luke Brennan. He’s been rock-solid in goal over the past few weeks and brought a calming presence to the back line again this evening.

One more big performance and who knows where we will end up- Up Carrig!
