Carrigtwohill faced league leaders Avondale AFC away in Avondale Park and put in a brave, disciplined performance against one of the toughest sides in the division.
From the very first whistle, Carrig showed intent — Sophie linked up with Neasa straight from kick-off for an early shot. At the other end, Nicola was called into action just 2 minutes in, making a solid save, followed by a brilliant double stop from a corner shortly after.

The back line of Eorann, Cornelia, Eadaoin, Tanya and Katie held firm under serious pressure from multiple Avondale threats, working hard to keep the home side at bay throughout the game. Carrig pushed forward too — an early corner from Rachel kept the pressure up.
Nicola produced yet another top save, but Avondale finally broke through in the 12th minute from a corner (1-0). Carrig responded well with shots from Kate and Sophie. Despite trailing, Carrig finished the half strongly, pressing high and challenging the league leaders.

Carrig came out second half pressing Avondale’s defence and creating chances. A great strike from Bláithín nearly found the net. Two minutes later, Nicola denied Avondale with yet another key save.
The central pairing of Grace and Sarah gave the team a strong spine to control the performance. Ciara impressed on the wing, driving play forward and causing real problems. But Avondale grabbed a second goal, giving them the breathing room they needed to see the game out (2-0).
A gutsy and organised showing from Carrig against the top side in the league. Strong defensive structure, sharp goalkeeping, and moments of real attacking threat. The team continues to grow with every game — proud of this effort!
