The reminder of first half was even enough with Niamh Cuddigan pulling off great saves to keep her team in the lead at halftime. Carrig started the second half same as the first with some good football, within 5 min of the restart Carrig scored their second from a neat finish by Kayla Kidney. The menacing wind had disappeared in the second half and Riverstown making some changes started a resurgence and soon getting one back from a through ball that was missed by our defenders.
Carrig legs and bodies started to waver, soon enough the visitors equalised to make it 2-2 with 15min remaining. Riverstown having a full bench gained the advantage for the last 15min and took the lead with 5min remaining. Carrig now getting frustrated found it hard to create a last effort to get a draw. Tough day for the home side but many positives to take away to bring into the next game.
Special mention to new players Emily Healy and Abbey Carroll who played their part in an opening first game of the season.
