We were on home soil for our 2nd game of the season with Lismore the visitors.
Carrig were on the front foot from minute 1 which set the tone for the whole game.
Darragh Leahy received the ball with his back to goal about 25 yards out and spun the defender and let fly with a shot from 20 yards which flew past the upright, from the resulting kick out Carrigtwohill’s press was smothering the opposition and a misplaced pass set Malachy Kelleher free down the left, he cut inside and shot across the keeper who pushed the ball round the post for a corner.
On 20 minutes Carrig deservedly went ahead with some neat football in midfield from Tristan and Aaron and a delicate ball through to Ryan Moore who rounded 2 defenders and slotted the ball into the corner of the net 1-0.
Carrigtwohill doubled their lead on 30 minutes when Alex Kadula played a lovely ball over the defence to the on running Ryan Collins who smashed the ball into the top corner 2-0 ht.
Carrigtwohill dominated the 2nd half with chance after chance, Darragh and Malachy bringing fine saves from the goalkeeper.
In the 50th minute Malachy Kelleher received a ball on the wing from Alex Motriuk, Mal went on a mazy run passing two defenders and slotted the ball into the net, lovely 3-0.
In the next attack Jack ó Keeffe skinned his marker and whipped in a great ball which was met by Darragh Leahy who delightfully wrong footed the goalkeeper and made it 4-0.
In the closing stages of the game Carrig extended their lead when again Jack ran his marker ragged and whipped a ball into the box which was met on the run from Sam Collins who gave the keeper no chance with a bullet into the corner.
Best for Carrig, Darragh Leahy, Alex Kadula, Aaron Sheehan and Ryan Collins.
Carrigtwohill’s work rate and effort played a huge part in the win.
