Carrigtwohill United - 0
Greenwood - 1

In a hard-fought encounter on Saturday 6th, we faced Greenwood in a closely contested match that saw limited chances in the first half.

The first half was largely uneventful in terms of clear-cut opportunities, with both teams struggling to break down the defence. Carrig’s defence of Charlie, Dara, Eoin, Aaron and Darragh remained strong. Luke and Cormac aimed to provide energy in midfield who were joined on the wings by the hardworking Kai and Finn. There was one notable moment in the first half when Sam played Zayd through on goal with a perfectly timed pass. Zayd found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but despite rounding him with skill, his shot hit the side netting.

As the game got closer to half time, Greenwood went ahead with a great goal.

The second half saw the home team push for an equaliser. Fionn and Thomas kept trying to create from the wide areas. With 15 minutes to go, they were denied by the woodwork. Dylan, with a brilliant strike from 25 yards out was denied by the post with the keeper beaten.

Despite this disappointment, Carrig kept working hard but in the end, they were unable to find a way through Greenwood's defence.

With the final whistle, the scoreline remained 1-0 in favour of the visitors. The team will now look ahead to their next fixture, hoping for better fortunes and a return to winning ways.

On to the next one.
