Carrigtwohill United - 2
Carrigaline Utd A - 1
Report:
What a performance from start to finish from Carrigtwohill.
From the 1st whistle Carrig dominated the ball and ran the opposition ragged, Ryan Collins played in Ryan Moore after 5 minutes and Ryan's shot was smothered by the keeper.
Carrig pressed the opposition and smothered the midfield with Tristan and Aaron Sheehan tigerish in the tackle as well as mixing some fine football.
On 15 minutes Jack O’Keeffe got the better of his defender and whipped a ball across the box which was met by Mal Kelleher and somehow the keeper saved from point-blank range.
Moments later the deadlock was broken when Sam Collins released Mal down the wing and Mal cleverly nutmegged the defender and rolled the ball to Ryan M who's finish was delightful 1-0.
In injury time the opposition equaliser came with what looked like an offside, 1-1, play to the whistle HT.
Carrigtwohill dominated the 2nd half with Mal, Sam and Darragh Leahy all going close.
On 50 minutes Darragh worked a beautiful 1-2 with Charlie and let fly from 25 yards but the keeper made a fine save.
Pressure was building and Carrigtwohill would soon be rewarded on 60 minutes when Ryan C took the ball out of defence and played it to Aaron in midfield, Aaron switched the play over to Charlie who's killer pass across the face of the box was met by Zayd who smashed the ball into the net, outstanding move 2-1.
Tackles were flying in all over the pitch but to a man Carrigtwohill fought fire with fire.
The game finished in a flurry of yellow cards as tempers flared on the pitch but Carrigtwohill ran out deserved winners.
Defence were outstanding and didn't give the opposition a sniff, midfield dominated from start to finish and the forward line lit up the game, what a terrific game of football.
Best for Carrig Ryan Collins, Alex Kadula, Charlie Cronin Ryan Moore
Carrigtwohill Scorers: Ryan Moore, Zayd
Player of the Match: Tristan Ó Donovan
