Mayfield United – 3
Carrigtwohill United - 1

First Half
The match began with both sides cancelling each other out in midfield, as each team worked to establish rhythm and control. Carrigtwohill started brightly, pressing high and moving the ball well. The first half featured Colm Ó Murchú in goal; defenders Antoni Kadula, Adam Lane, Lorcan Thornhill, Oscar Connolly, and Charley O’Sullivan; midfielders John Buckley, Frank Krysiak, Ronan Doyle, Cesc Matarin, Ariel Lembelembe, Ajus Lepeska, and Oscar Mazur; and forwards Mati Majchrzak and Chiemekam Emeakaroha.

Mayfield opened the scoring after 17 minutes with a fantastic free kick from the left. The ball was whipped in with pace and met by their striker, who volleyed it first time into the top corner — a superb finish. Just five minutes later, they doubled their lead after three missed tackles in midfield allowed them to break through and finish clinically from close range.

Carrigtwohill responded with determination and created several promising moments. Just before the break, Adam Lane rose highest to meet a corner and sent a powerful header just wide of the far post — a moment that nearly brought the visitors back into the game. The teams went in at halftime with Mayfield leading 2–0.

Second Half
The second half was much improved. The team came out with renewed energy and purpose, pressing higher and moving the ball with greater urgency. Early in the half, Colm Ó Murchú was forced off through injury and replaced by Oscar Mazur, who stepped into goal confidently and made several solid saves.

Five minutes from the end, Ronan Doyle showed great awareness to track back and recover a long ball from Mayfield. He pulled the ball back calmly away from the rushing winger and played a beautiful through pass into the path of John Buckley, who broke into the box and finished low into the corner — a well-deserved goal that brought the score to 2–1.

Carrigtwohill pushed hard for an equaliser in the closing stages, creating pressure and forcing Mayfield to defend deep. A few half-chances came and went, but the visitors couldn’t find the breakthrough. Mayfield sealed the result with a third goal late on — finishing off a swift move down the right.

Goal John Buckley – 1 goal
Assist Ronan Doyle – 1 assist

Player of the Match Adam Lane – Calm and composed throughout, read the game brilliantly and led the defensive line with maturity and grit.
Best of luck to Mayfield United as they continue their journey in the Blackwater Motors Local Cup.
