It was a great cup game at home as we welcomed Park United for what proved to be an end to end game. Despite a final scoreline of 4-1 in favour of the visitors, the lads had periods of great passages of play.

Park United struck first, capitalising on an early spell of pressure to take a 1-0 lead. But Carrigtwohill responded brilliantly, growing into the game and finding a well-deserved equaliser. The move of the match came when Kai delivered a superb cross into the box, and Fionn timed his run perfectly to meet it with a clinical finish to bring the score to 1-1.

Just as Carrigtwohill looked to be gaining momentum, Park United hit back with two quick-fire goals before the half-time whistle, swinging the momentum in their favour at 3-1. The third goal, a real moment of quality from the Park striker. 

Despite the setback, Carrigtwohill came out in the second half with real heart and commitment. The lads never let their heads drop, fighting for every ball and pushing forward in search of a way back into the match. There were chances created and moments of promise, we were unlucky not to get it back to 3-2 when the Park keeper made a great save from a penalty. 

The scoreline didn’t reflect the full story of the game — Carrigtwohill put in a performance full of character and effort, and they’ll take plenty of positives into their next game.
