Report:
Carrigtwohill Under 16 continued their Division 1 Season at Home to Park United.
Park pressured the Carrigtwohill defence in the first 15 minutes but solid defence from our back 4 of Caoimhe-Caragh-Majka-Luca along with keeper Niamh kept any chance Park had at bay. Carrig pushed on and had some great play in the centre of the field with Olivia O Sullivan and Erica Dorney delivering great ball into the forwards. Molly brought energy when introduced, unlucky not to convert a few chances in the first half. The away side converted after 25 minutes against the run of play. Carrig pressured the Park defence, making simple passes and linking up well with one another but unfortunately couldn’t find the back of the net leaving us 1-0 down at half time.
The second half started similar to the first, a corner well taken by Molly levelled the teams after 50 minutes and gave Carrig a burst of energy to push on. Carrig fought well, attacking every ball. Park united continued to take their chances but the defence didn’t falter under pressure with Majka and Caragh playing well together in the centre and Caoimhe and Luca cleaning things up at each corner. Gemma and Kayla linked in well together in the second half delivering ball through to put the Park defence and goal keeper under pressure. Introducing Olivia C and Abbie Carrol into defence kept our back 4 solid, Isabelle seamlessly slotted into midfield for Erica, Niamh S found the back of the net after a well delivered ball from Olivia Sull was neatly finished giving Carrig the lead with 10 minutes to go. Park never gave up and levelled the match with 2 minutes to go from a great strike form distance.
The game finished 2-2 with an outstanding team performance by Carrigtwohill. Special mention to Isabelle, Olivia, Molly, Abbie and Zoe who played up with us today some for the first time this season and to Emily who captained the side in her last game this season.
