Report:
Last Sunday saw us host Rockmount in the National Cup. This proved to be a tight match with both teams cancelling each other out for large stages of the game. 
The visitors had two great chances in the first half but fine goalkeeping from Bart kept them out. Carrig had two good shouts for penalties when Josh and Nathan were what looked like fouled in the Rockmount box but the referee waved play on. Josh then had a free kick tipped over after a good spell. Nil all at half time  

Second half was another battle with chances few and far between. Carrig defended well with Karol intercepting a lot of ball and driving us forward. Julian, Ryan and Sam were introduced for Josh, Jack Lombard and Karol as we searched for a goal. The breakthrough came from Rockmount when their winger cut in and struck a brilliant shot in to the top left corner from 25 yards. Ciaran never stopped running all afternoon and Jack Lombard was a presence in the middle of the park. Great work by Owen on the left saw the ball break in the 6 yards box but we couldn’t get a proper strike to convert. We went again and a surging run from Dylan and an improvised scoop pass saw Nathan with a one on one in the box and taken down. Unfortunately we didn’t convert the penalty but still kept going. We left ourselves open at the back and only for Bart the game would have been out of sight sooner. 

Our race was finally run when Rockmount hit us on the break from our corner to make it two nil. A harsh ending which didn’t tell the true story of the game. The lads are now looking forward to competing in the National Trophy and are looking to go far in that tournament. Castleview in the league this weekend.
