Carrigtwohill UTD hosted last year’s Premier champions Lakewood in Ballyadam on Saturday in what proved to be a very tough and fast-paced encounter, with both sides serving up some hugely entertaining football.

Lakewood struck first after 20 minutes, slightly against the run of play, but Carrigtwohill responded quickly. Just five minutes later, Isabelle Kingston produced a superb run from deep in her own half before driving down the wing. She delivered a dangerous ball to Rachael Uyi Irabor, who showed great composure with a smart turn and pass across goal to the back post. Abbie Rall timed her run perfectly and struck first-time, curling the ball into the bottom corner to level the game.
The score remained 1–1 at the break.

 Lakewood returned for the second half with greater intensity and, with 12 minutes remaining, their quality told as they regained the lead. Carrigtwohill pushed hard for another equaliser but were caught on the counter in the final minute, Lakewood sealing a 3–1 victory.
A brave performance from Carrigtwohill against top-quality opposition, with special mentions to Isabelle Kingston and Rachael Uyi Irabor, who were relentless throughout the game.
