Carrigtwohill got the better Lakewood in a pulsating game out in Lakewood.
Carrig started brightly with some lovely passages of play on a fabulous surface, Mal Kelleher and Darragh Leahy combined well with Darraghs shot clipping the outside of the post.
Carrigtwohill were pressing the opposition and forced the defender into putting the ball out for a corner which resulted in Evan Toveys wicked in swinging corner go straight into the back of the net 0-1.
Carrigtwohill were dominating the game and extended their lead on 30 minutes when a lovely ball across the box from Evan was met by Darragh who smashed it into the net 0-2.
The opposition scored at the end of the half 1-2, ht.
In a second half that saw the game go from end to end, Carrigtwohill were cut open twice in quick succession but Christopher Ó Reilly pulled off 2 World class saves to keep the opposition at bay.
The game started to get scrappy with Carrigtwohill giving the ball away on numerous occasions and were punished with 5 minutes left on the clock when a high defensive line was broken by the opposition forward 2-2.
This team never let their heads drop and were pushing for a winner, Sam gave the ball out to Ryan Collins who released Jack o Keeffe down the line, Jack passed the defender and whipped a fabulous ball across the box, the ball fell perfectly for Darragh who slotted the ball into the bottom corner of the net, chaotic celebrations ensued, 2-3,ft.
Unbelievable spirit showed by every player in the Carrigtwohill colours today.
