Unfortunately, despite coming into this match in great form, this was not be a happy ending for the girls. Midleton are playing in a higher division, but there was great excitement at the opportunity to give them a good test in this match

 

The weather was really poor, as the rain progressed from a drizzle to a downpour and as it so often the case, the team that scores first gains a huge advantage.

The visitors went ahead from a scrappy passage of play in the penalty box, and in truth it was hard for Carrigtwohill to gain enough momentum to equalise despite exerting a lot of pressure.

 

Some super performances on the day – Clodagh playing centre back for the first time was superb and Kate who was goalkeeper for the day pulled off some good saves with excellent distribution.

 

However, this was a demonstration of team grit and hard work as they girls stuck at their task throughout and actually had the upper hand towards the end of the game when the weather was at its worst !
