Carrigtwohill United - 2
Inishvilla - 1

Report:
Carrigtwohill continued their U16 Division 1 campaign at home to Inishvilla. Carrig settled quickly, playing with the wind in the first half. Carrig battled hard for every possession. A challenge on Gemma earned Carrig a penalty in the opening 10 minutes which was calmly slotted into the bottom right corner by Olivia O Sullivan. Olivia C, Erica, Gemma and Olivia O S worked tirelessly in the centre of the pitch delivering ball into Niamh S and Kayla who constantly asked questions of Inishvillas defence. Confident goal keeping by Niamh C and a reliable back 4 of Caoimhe, Caragh, Majka and Luca kept any chance of an Inishvilla goal at bay. Molly and Isabelle provided more chances for Carrigtwohill when introduced, linking up well with midfield.

Inishvilla found the back of the net in the 33nd minute after a ball broke through, leaving the sides 1-1 at half time.

The second half started like the first, Carrig settled well, though playing against a strong breeze. Carrigs defence was solid, the girls adjusted to the breeze and attacked the high ball. Midfield worked tirelessly throughout the game constantly feeding the ball into the forwards. A number of well delivered frees by Molly and Majka asked questions of the Inishvilla defence. Molly and Gemma worked well together on the right wing and a goal well earned by Molly put Carrig in front with 20 minutes left in the game 2-1. Inishvilla didn’t give up and continued to press Carrigs defence but Carrig held Inishvilla at bay for their first win of the season.

Massive well done to the girls on a hard fought win.

Carrigtwohill Scorers: Olivia O’Sullivan, Molly Dennis
