Carrigtwohill United – 1
Leeside - 0

On a great morning for a game, the boys put in a great display against a good side. The work that these lads put in in training are continuing to be clear to see for everyone.

The boys started bright and were winning their duels all over the pitch. James, captain for the day and around were strong and determined to keep a clean sheet for our keeper Eoin who was brilliant. Our full backs, Dara and Finn stayed in their shape to help keep it tight at the back. Luke, Sam and Darragh were everywhere, they battled for every ball and help to keep control in the middle. Zayd was electric on the right and Rayane was excellent on the left and helped Cormac to press consistently on their defence all day. Chances were at a premium throughout the first half, bodies went on the line to keep it at 0-0. This desire was rewarded when Aaron put in a magnificent ball on James’ head who slotted the ball into the net to put us 1 up at half time.

The word at half time was to continue doing what the lads were doing. It was a big ask as Leeside were expected to pile the pressure but Carrig stayed strong and were an inch away from being 2 up when Kai struck a great effort off the bar. Thomas done an excellent job to connect defence and attack and relieve pressure at an important time. Dylan’s work ethic was excellent and we were still 1 still up in added time. It needed a big save from our stand in keeper Eoin at the last kick to send us into the next round.

Special mention to all 14 lads today, they are a credit to the club and we can see how hard they work every week to improve.
