Under-13A CWSSL Girls League Division 4
Sun, 02 Nov 25 at Ballyadam
Carrigtwohill United - 2
Corinthians A - 1
Report:
On a perfect morning for football, the girls put in their best performance of the season to take the league points. It was great to have a full strength team and 14 players available for selection for the first time in a while and the strength of depth of the panel was ultimately what got them over the line.
It was Corinthians who started the stronger putting Amy, Aisling, Robyn and Amelia under constant pressure throughout the first 10 minutes, but gradually, Kate and Clodagh in midfield started to get a hold of the ball and turn the tide in their favour.
Kaitlin was her usual industrious self and was covering huge ground, but it was a team performance, with Searlaith and Maisie having penetrating runs causing mayhem for the away team.
Top player during this first half was Ailish in goals who was able to direct the back 4 and sweep up any through balls with quick action off her line and gave a superb display when it was most needed.
However, it was the reinforcements from the bench which turned this game - with Lucy being especially effective in her first game for the team. She scored a beauty from a free kick on the edge of the box and put in several killer crosses, one of which was neatly finished by the ever dangerous EmmaQ.
EmmaOC operating in midfield and IsabelleT who was putting in a great effort on the wing kept pressure on Corinthians and as the game wore on the home side became dominant.
Well done to all the girls - a special mention to Clodagh today who was everywhere throughout the game with huge energy and effort from midfield which is a new position for her
Carrigtwohill Scorers: Lucy and EmmaQ
Player of the Match: Ailish
