Report:
Macroom were the visitors to Ballyadam Sunday in what was a lovely afternoon for a game of football. It’s been 6 weeks since our last outing but the lads got straight into it, playing some great football right from the start.
JP opened the scoring after 20 minutes, finally getting on the scoresheet after being unlucky on a few earlier occasions. We battled hard throughout the first half with Oisin and Odhran putting in great performances working hard defensively and constantly looking to get forward. We lost a bit of focus and bit of sloppiness crept into our play but that was probably to be expected with the large gap between our last outing. Luke who was outstanding in goal throughout could do nothing as Macroom equalised on 30 mins but to be fair to the lads the heads never dropped and we managed to force a penalty just before halftime where Cian calmly slotted home. 2-1 at halftime
In the second half, we dominated much of the play. When we kept our focus on playing our football, we looked every bit the strong side we know we are. JP powered home his second from a fantastic delivery from a Ryan Mathew corner and Fionn Morrissey added another with a determined run, skipping past two defenders before finishing smartly.
To cap it all off, Eoin Lombard got an absolute beauty with a rocket of a strike into the top corner.
A very good result and with all the rain that fell and matches on all morning I have to say the pitch held up very well so well done on that Ger 👍
