Under-14 Premier National Trophy
16th Nov 25 at Moneygourney
Douglas Hall – 0
Carrigtwohill United – 5
On a crisp Sunday evening under the floodlights, Douglas Hall hosted Carrigtwohill United in what proved to be a highly competitive National Trophy encounter. Both sides started brightly, with the opening stages showing just how evenly matched the teams were.
Douglas carved out a number of early opportunities, but Carrigtwohill goalkeeper Zoe Cotter was in outstanding form, producing a series of crucial saves to keep the hosts at bay.
Carrigtwohill made their breakthrough midway through the first half. A well-worked corner routine saw Olivia O’Sullivan deliver a dangerous ball into the box, which took a deflection and found its way into the net for 1–0. Moments later, Molly Dennis doubled the lead, finishing smartly after sustained pressure from the visitors. Carrig went into the break 2–0 up.
The second half opened with Douglas Hall pushing forward aggressively, creating multiple chances. Again, Cotter stood firm, and the post came to Carrig’s rescue on another occasion. With Douglas committing numbers forward, Carrigtwohill struck twice in quick succession—both goals coming from Molly Dennis. The first was a superb long-range effort; the second a remarkable solo run beginning inside her own box, carrying the ball the full length of the pitch before calmly slotting home.
Despite being - down, Douglas Hall showed great heart and kept fighting to the final whistle. But Carrigtwohill weren’t done yet—Eabha Murphy added two rapid-fire goals late on to seal the result.
Carrigtwohill’s defensive line also deserves huge credit, remaining disciplined and resilient under heavy pressure throughout the match.
A big thank you to the referee and to Douglas Hall and their coaching staff for a sporting and competitive game.
