Under-13 CWSSL Cup
23rd Nov 25 at Everton Park
Everton – 1
Carrigtwohill United – 0
Carrigtwohill travelled away to Everton in the cup and were narrowly defeated 1–0 after a superb late finish from the hosts.
Carrig started brightly in the first half, controlling much of the play and creating several excellent chances. Phoebe and Lauren both went close, but the Everton goalkeeper produced a series of outstanding saves to keep the game scoreless. Everton threatened on the counter at times, yet the Carrig defence—led brilliantly by Emma and with Hannah alert behind them—dealt confidently with everything that came their way.
The second half saw Everton make use of the hill advantage and build more pressure, but once again Carrig’s defensive unit stood firm, with Emma continuing to be excellent throughout, limiting opportunities and keeping the game finely balanced. With ten minutes remaining, however, an Everton striker unleashed a wonderful strike into the top corner, giving Hannah no chance and breaking the deadlock.
Carrig pushed hard for an equaliser in the closing stages. Edel’s determination and clever play nearly opened up the Everton defence, but the hosts held on to secure their place in the semi-final.
A strong performance from Carrigtwohill throughout—well done to Everton and best wishes in the semi-final.
