Carrigtwohill United – 3
Ballinhassig – 0

After several weeks off due to recent Cup fixtures and adverse weather, the Carrigtwohill U12A team hosted Ballinhassig in our 3rd league fixture .

First half :

With Ollie lining out in goals , the defence consisted of Tom O, Ryan, Krystian, Julian, midfield Rian, Tom P, wingers Alonzo , Ciarán , Liam , Josh , with strikers Scott and Dylan

Due to the recent adverse weather conditions, the heavy ground was going to be a major factor in the game for both teams.
Carrigtwohill started strong and were dominant from the start in all areas, the lads  keeping to positions making it difficult for Ballinhassig to get into the game ..

The boys pressed hard from midfield and passed the ball well at times in difficult conditions , giving Scott , Alonzo and Josh some early half chances.
The back three were solid, dealing with any Ballinhassig threat with composure.
After a few half chances,  the deadlock was broken with Josh holding off defenders and finishing after an initial save by their keeper ..

Against the run of play , the Ballinhassig striker found himself bearing down on goals and with his strike destined for the top corner , ollie produced a world class  save to deny him .
The boys continued to play as a team , giving plenty of supply to the wide runners of Liam and Ciaran , Josh and Alonzo ,with Scott and Dylan working extremely hard up front.

Half Time
Carrigtwohill 1
Ballinhassig 0

Second Half :
The second half  allowed us to rotate positions due to the tiring pitch , with Tom O , Rian and Tom P doing a excellent job in  central midfield.
Again our defence of Ryan, Krystian ,Dylan  and Julian held strong and giving little away, while our wingers off Ciaran, Alonzo and Liam were consistently making runs to supply Scott and Josh
After sustained pressure, Dylan found Josh who slotted home for his second of the day.
Ballinhassig did have two great chances to get back into the game but again , Ollie was strong , making himself big and producing two excellent saves .
With continued pressure from midfield,  Josh supplied Ciaran who finished but was ruled offside .
Again rotation was key to the result , Liam switching from left to central midfield to partner  Krystian and giving renewed energy.
The game was sealed after Scott picked up the ball outside the box, striking on the turn , looping over a very good Ballinhassig keeper for  a fine finish to make it 3-0 and a well-deserved and tiring victory

Overall an excellent team performance, every single player sticking to their role and position .

MOTM:
Oliver Berzins :
Three top drawer saves, vocally excellent  , brilliant distribution throughout the game
( Ryan a close 2nd )
