Report:
The scoreline doesn't reflect an accurate picture of the game that was played by Carrig against Macroom on Saturday. Every Carrig player was outstanding & as a team were unlucky on a couple of occasions. Outstanding in terms of their fast passing, work rate, creativity & how they battled to the final whistle. Unlucky to be caught twice against the run of play in counter attacks by Macroom & unlucky not to have sent home more of their goal chances!

 

Within 3 mins Alan hit & almost broke the crossbar with a powerful free kick from well outside the box. 8 mins Nathan who had a brilliant game & posed a threat all day made an excellent run &  put his shot just wide. 9mins against the run of play Macroom score 1-0. Darragh & Kyle had an excellent game in defence, Jack G made some quality saves while Callum Foley was at his very best not giving Macroom an inch of space & made a fine clearance off the line later in the game ! Callum O B as usual was winning alot of ball around midfield while Jack L was class & created some decent attacks with his fast & well placed passing. Enda & Ben fought hard to win the ball and made some excellent runs and passes from the wings. 

 

Carrig played with urgency & dominated Macroom for good periods of the game. 20 mins Evan played a lovely ball up the wing for Nathan to run onto,  he made a fine shot that was just saved by the Macroom keeper. 22 mins on the counter Macroom score 2-0. Carrig stuck to the task & created more chances with some shots just wide or saved. 45 mins Macroom score 3-0. Carrig kept their heads held high & had a good start to the second half with more untaken goal chances. 61 mins Macroom score 4-0. 64 mins Luke who had a great game & almost scored with a bicycle kick and had a couple of other chances just wide or saved as did Jack L and Nathan. Killian played well in defence when he came on in the second half. 

 

80mins from a corner kick the ball broke inside the box where Evan sent it home. 4-1.
