Carrigtwohill United A – 1
Blarney United – 0

Carrigtwohill hosted Blarney in our 4th league game of the season in Ballyadam, with the visitors inflicting our only defeat so far this season on opening day.

1st Half :
Carrigtwohill lined out with Ollie in goals,  defenders , Ryan, Tom P, Tom O and Isaac,  midfield consisted of Ciarán, Rian, Scott ,Liam and Alonzo with Josh and Dylan upfront .

Carrigtwohill won the toss and decided to play with the wind in the opening half but it was Blarney who looked the stronger side in the opening ten mins and were controlling the ball better than us but limited in chances  . After that initial spell  , we came more into  the game, passing, and more importantly tackling a lot  better.
Blarney to their credit were well coached,  and limiting us to very little opportunities with even Josh pace not able to break them down .
Carrigtwohill defence was solid ,  Tom P, Tom O, Ryan and Isaac clearing everything.
Midfield of Rian and Scott( Tom P)  where trying their best to release Josh and Dylan through a very good Blarney defence
As usual or wingers of Ciaran , Liam and Alonzo where full of running and tracking back when required
The biggest chance of 1st half came to Blarney who played through our defence and 2 players bearing down on Ollie , who was patient and pulled off an excellent initial save , with Ryan backing him up to clear off the line
The first half ended with both sides cancelling each other out defensively with only half chances for both sides
Half Time
Carrigtwohill 0
Blarney 0

2nd Half
A much better start for Carrigtwohill in the second half with midfield able to get Scott and Josh on the ball more .Both at times held up the ball well and we started to move the ball better.
With Scott about to swing in a corner,  Ryan jogged into the box and was a clear distraction to the Blarney defence , and after a beautiful delivery,  it was Tom O who reacted the fastest to flick the ball over the line to make it 1-0
Again Carrigtwohill continued to work hard all around the pitch, especially Ryan and Tom O who were outstanding all game .
Carrigtwohill did have chances to finish the game , firstly a lovely ball from Alonzo found Rian , whose shot clipped the post.
Ciarán  had a shot which on another day could have resulted in a penalty for handball in the box .
Liam was making more runs down the left and getting Josh more involved with few half chances
The last ten minutes,  Carrigtwohill held strong,  dealing with a lot of Blarney pressure, the whole team besides Josh( who stayed up front)  at times clearing , putting the bodies on the line, and with the safe strong hands from Ollie we held  out for a great win against a very good team
A well-deserved 3pts which moves us to 2nd in the table

Goal: Tom O Sullivan
Assist: Scott Parker

MOTM:
Impossible to split Tom O Sullivan and Ryan O Sullivan today , both outstanding throughout the match
