Under-13A Girls CWSSL Division 4

Riverstown – 3
Carrigtwohill United – 0
Legends ! Every single player that took the field deserve immense credit for their performance in what was atrocious weather conditions.
This was a 12pm kick-off on grass, just right in the middle of the storm and the fixture itself was in some doubt all morning as a lot of other matches were cancelled.
This was a tough tight game in which the Carrigtwohill girls gave as good as they got. They conceded an early goal from a corner in which a scrapy ball fell to the Riverstown attacker in the box and there remained just 1 goal separating the sides until the last few minutes of the game.
Best on the day were Clodagh and Searlaith, with Lucy a constant threat and Amelie doing well to adjust to U13 football for the first time.
The girls kept pushing for the equaliser, but with just the bare 11 players, tiredness in the heavy wet conditions took its toll and the home side nabbed two goals towards the end
This was a great display of character from the girls – when the easy decision was to stay at dry at home, they showed their commitment and character by playing one of their best games by running the league leaders so close.
