Midleton Magpies – 2
Carrigtwohill United - 1
Midleton started brightly and put Carrigtwohill under early pressure, but Carrig soon settled into the game and began to create chances of their own, with Lucy causing problems up front. Despite Carrig growing into the contest, Midleton continued to press and, despite some vital interventions from Leah at the back, they took the lead after 25 minutes.
The Carrigtwohill girls kept their heads up and continued to push forward, but Midleton kept creating chances. Hannah was equal to everything thrown at her in goal, ensuring the score remained 1–0 at half-time.
After the break, Carrigtwohill took control of the game. Phoebe levelled the score with a smart finish after a perfectly weighted through ball from Lauren. Shortly after, Lauren and Phoebe combined again to put the ball in the net, but the flag went up for offside.
Midleton were clearly wobbling but steadied the ship with ten minutes to go. As Carrigtwohill pushed hard for a late winner, Midleton broke forward and scored a screamer of a goal to seal the win.
Thanks to Midleton for a sporting game as always.
Best performers for Carrigtwohill were Leah, Emi and Lucy.
