Leeside – 2
Carrigtwohill United - 1
Carrigtwohill put in a spirited performance but narrowly lost out to Leeside in an entertaining and competitive encounter.
Leeside got off to a fast start, scoring early when the ball broke kindly to them in the box. They followed this up soon after with a second goal, again capitalising on a loose ball in the area to take a 2–0 lead.
To their credit, the Carrig girls didn’t drop their heads and continued to push forward. Their persistence was rewarded when Sofia latched onto a perfectly weighted through ball, shrugged off her defender, and calmly slotted the ball into the corner to pull one back.
Carrigtwohill continued to apply pressure, with Allie creating another excellent chance through some clever movement in the box, only to be denied by a superb save from the in-form Leeside goalkeeper.
Leeside started the second half strongly, but Ailish was ever alert in goal, snuffing out danger when needed. She was well protected by the ever-reliable Rollina and Kalina at centre back. It was a tight affair for much of the half but Carrigtwohill definitely finished the stronger of the teams and were unlucky not to find an equaliser as they had the home team pegged back for the last 10 minutes.
Well done to all the girls who played
