Under-13A Girls CWSSL Division 4
Sun 8th Feb 2026 at Leeside Park
Leeside United – 1
Carrigtwohill United – 0
This was one that got away ! Ouch !
With all the recent bad weather and match cancellations the girls were delighted to be playing on astroturf in Little Island and really looking forward to the match.
For the first time since the start of the season, we had almost a full complement of players to choose from and with 16 players available, were able to keep the intensity up for the entire match.
The Carrigtwohill girls took some time to get going, but mid-way through the first half, started to gain control of the match and never let it go. First half chances for Clodagh, Lucy and EmmaQ were very close and after some early jitters, the back line was back to their best with Saoirse and Aisling dominant in particular.
However, Leeside are challenging for top spot in this league and they were proving difficult to get past.
In the second half, Carrigtwohill upped a gear and were really on top for 20 minutes of that half, with Lucy having 3 good chances and Maisie forcing the keeper into a diving save from close range. It seemed only a matter of time before they would breech the tough defence.
However, it was Leeside who got the only goal of the game, with a neat looping finish from the edge of the box.
There was a big push from the girls in the final minutes, but Leeside held on for the win.
It was a game that showed what the girls can do when at full strength and augurs well for the remaining games of the season
Well done to all players.
