Carrigtwohill United - 0
Mallow Town - 1
Report:
It was nice to play our 1st game in Ballyadam in 5 months, on a glorious day but on a very heavy pitch it was hard to play football.
Carrigtwohill started applying pressure on the opposition from the off with some neat passing in midfield from Aaron Sheehan and Tristan Ó Donovan, Tristan released Jack ó Keeffe down the wing and jacks cross was met by Mal Kelleher who shot just wide.
Carrigtwohill stood up to some ferocious and overly aggressive tackling from the opposition and tried to play football, Mal stung the hands of the goalkeeper who pushed it passed the post.
Corner was swung in by Ryan Collins and Ryan Moores header just over the bar.
Carrig should of went 1 up when a delightful ball to the back post by Ryan C was met by Jack with the goal at his mercy and somehow he headed just past the post.
On 25 minutes bizarrely Carrigtwohill were reduced to 10 men when a legitimate attempt at blocking the ball hit the defender on the arm, as he was the last man, red card and penalty to opposition, 0-1.
Carrig were nearly level on 30 minutes when Ryan Ms shot was saved excellently and the follow up shot went over - HT.
Carrigtwohill dominated large parts of the second half but couldn't find the net as the final ball or touch was just off, with Jack, Ryan and Tristan going close but lady luck was not on our side.
To play almost 3/4 of the game with 10 men, the spirit, fight and heart from this team was nothing short of exceptional.
A special thanks to Luke and Sam who played with their own team (u14s) on the pitch before us and literally ran back onto the pitch to play again with us.
Still loads to play for in the league and cup, heads up lads.
Best for Carrigtwohill, Tristan Ó Donovan, Ryan Moore, Evan Tovey
Player of the Match: Charlie Cronin
