Our development squad was in action last Saturday after numerous cancelled matches of recent months and they were delighted to get the chance to play a game

 

Despite the bright dry conditions the pitch was soft and heavy with some concern beforehand if the game could go ahead. It did, but in fact, the pitch had a massive bearing on the game.

 

This was a superb performance by the girls which was not reflected by the scoreline. A neatly taken goal by Sophia put the Carrigtwohill girls in the lead but it was soon clear the home side were coping better with the heavy pitch and they had success from some long range shooting.

 

Every girl played their part today – Isabelle, Kate and Aishling in midfield put in huge efforts, Lily and Ruby rock solid in each corner while EmmaOC, Lucy and Searlaith were threatening on the wings with the ever reliable Ailish in goal dominating her penalty box.

Our duo of Robyn and Rolina were solid at centre back and both showing great improvement with their first match as a pair.

 

Player of the match today was Hanna who was everywhere in the middle of the park, starting attacks from midfield, defending and using her strength and energy to break down the opposition attacks
