Under-12 Girls CWSSL Div 3
14th March 2026 at Ballyadam
Carrigtwohill United – 2
Fermoy – 1
It was over 4 months since the girls last home match in the league, but it was worth the wait.
Carrigtwohill started well with the Sofia, Amelie and Faye looking strong in defence, Amelia and Jessica holding the line and working hard in the middle, Kaitlin passed and probed with the ball and Olivia a bundle of energy up front who consistently put in the hard yards and tracked players down and brought the ball forward. Carrigtwohill went ahead when Saoirse struck the ball from just inside the midfield line and the ball went in over the keeper.
Shortly afterwards there was another good build up and Saoirse, again from distance, struck the ball low and hard into the bottom corner of the net. Carrigtwohill were 2-0 up at the break.
The second half saw Fermoy attacking and after a defensive mix up they scored. After that it was a more controlled and defensive display from Carrigtwohill with Aoibhinn and Faye tackling ferociously in the middle and Grace and Lucy, in particular, playing long balls out of defence to relieve the pressure. Sophia used her pace on a number of occasions to ensure Fermoy could not break through.
Player of the match though was Evelyn in goals She was cool, calm and collected at all stages, bravely coming off her line to sweep up the ball on a number of occasions, very solid with her handling of the ball and regularly set up Carrigtwohill to attack with her excellent kicks from her hands.
A great Team effort from all the girls and upon the final whistle all that was left was for the girls favourite coach, Brooke, to lead them in a dance whilst listening to the teams anthem
