Carrigtwohill United – 3
Kanturk – 4
Carrigtwohill suffered a narrow defeat to Kanturk in an entertaining 4–3 encounter, despite a superb performance.
It was our lads who made the brighter start, taking an early lead through Sam Collins. He showed great composure to slot home after an excellent through ball from Kai, setting the tone for what looked like a promising afternoon.
The first half, however, proved to be a tightly contested battle. Kanturk gradually found their rhythm and struck twice to turn the game on its head. Just before the break, they extended their advantage further with a well-taken free kick, leaving Carrigtwohill trailing 3–1 at half-time.
At the interval, we urged the players to give everything—and the response was outstanding. The second half saw a fantastic performance, full of energy, intensity, and attacking intent.
Sam Collins once again made his mark, producing a fantastic strike to reduce the deficit to 3–2. Carrigtwohill continued to dominate proceedings, controlling possession and creating chances, and their efforts were deservedly rewarded when Kai finished brilliantly to bring the sides level.
With momentum firmly on Carrigtwohill’s side, it looked like only one team would go on to win.
Unfortunately, Kanturk capitalised on their only real opportunity of the second half, delivering a sucker punch to edge ahead 4–3.
Despite the disappointment, this was an encouraging performance from Carrigtwohill. Playing their first league game in six months, the lads showed tremendous heart, determination, and quality, particularly in a dominant second-half display that deserved more.
