Under-13 Girls CWSSL Division 4
22nd March 2026 at Ballyadam
Carrigtwohill United A – 2
Ballinhassig – 0
After a slow start today, the Under-13A girls showed their true potential to overcome a tough Ballinhassig challenge at Ballyadam on what was a lovely spring morning.
The first 20 minutes were busy for our super keeper Ailish - having to come off her line on several occasions and also deal with some shots from distance which she handled brilliantly.
However, as the half wore on, the backline of Amy, Robyn, Aisling and Amelia started to get on top and we forced 3 corners in quick succession which all came to nothing.
Halftime was a welcome chance to reset and rethink. Both teams know each other well, meeting over the years and always just a goal one way or the other. The girls knew themselves that they needed to re-double their efforts and to be fair, every single one of them did.
In the second half, the midfield started to get on top, with Kate, Clodagh, Searlaith and Kaitlin now getting on more ball and playing the match in the opposition half more often than not.
Super play on the wings from Emma, Ameile and Lucy was putting Ballinhassig under constant pressure, and Maisie was putting in a huge effort up front.
With the team now playing so well as a unit, the goals were bound to come and so they did – with two lovely finishes, the first from Searlaith who was alert in the box and struck a lovely ball into the top right corner and the second from Kaitlin who broke into the box and rattled the top left corner.
Two super goals, but in truth the winning of the match was the change of gear at halftime and an illustration of what the girls can achieve when they put in their maximum effort.
