Midleton – 0
Carrigtwohill United – 4
Carrigtwohill delivered a strong performance against Midleton, finishing with a 4-0 victory.
Carrig started brightly from the kick-off, immediately putting Midleton under pressure. While they created several early chances, they struggled to convert, and Midleton looked dangerous on the break. Stand-in goalkeeper Lili was called into action a number of times and made some excellent saves to keep Carrig level.
After 15 minutes, Carrig’s pressure finally paid off when Emi broke forward from midfield and calmly slotted the ball past the advancing Midleton keeper. As the half progressed, Carrig began to take control. Allie reacted quickest to a sharp throw-in to double the lead, and shortly after, she was alert again to a breaking ball to add her second.
Midleton grew into the game early in the second half, but Carrig soon reasserted control. Clever passing from Edel created several opportunities, though determined defending kept the scoreline down. Phoebe, Sadie, and Allie all went close, with Allie narrowly missing out on her hat-trick after hitting the post.
The hat-trick eventually came after excellent play down the wing, as Allie burst through and finished coolly, capping off a player-of-the-match performance. Sadie also came close to getting on the scoresheet but was denied by a combination of strong defending and goalkeeping.
Standout performers for Carrigtwohill included Emi, who dominated midfield throughout, and Rolina, who was composed and reliable in defence.
