St. Marys - 0
Carrigtwohill United – 2
Following Saturdays excellent result the girls followed it up with another gritty performance.
The Team spirit, hard work and never give up attitude was evident in abundance throughout the match. Lucy in goals made an excellent save and bravely dived on the ball when most people wouldn't have put their foot in, her reward was a kick to the head, but she held onto the ball. The back line of Sofia, Aoibhinn and Amelie were superb in both their tackling and also the length they put on their clearances, they are really starting to form a formidable unit with great understanding between the three of them. Amelia and Faye put in the hard yards in the middle and tackled anything that moved and drove them backwards and they were supported by Isabelle and Grace. Kaitlin demonstrated her ability to carry the ball and consistently beat players which relieved the pressure and Olivia showed some neat touches and also defended from the front throughout the match.
Player of the match though had to be given to Jessica who was immense throughout the game in her tackling and moving the ball forward, such was her determination to win every ball it will be up there with the performance of the season. After a goalless first half Carrigtwohill attacked more in the second half and scored when Lucy took and excellent in swinging corner which caused confusion in the box and ended up in the back of the net.
Carrigtwohill didn't sit back and once again Kaitlin danced down the wing and after rounding the fullback crossed a great ball into the box to Jessica, who moved it on first time to Lucy who struck it cleanly into the back of the net. It was a great contest between two teams who gave it everything.
Once the final whistle went, Brooke led the team celebration with their anthem Free from Desire....after three wins in a row the song might be slowly climbing the Spotify charts!!
