Carrigtwohill progressed to the semi-final of the local cup after a hard fought victory away to Springfield.
The game started at a blistering pace with the home team not giving Carrig a second on the ball, misplaced passes, ball watching and positional awareness summing up the opening 15 minutes of the game and deservedly went a goal down on 15 minutes.
That goal conceded, flipped a switch with this Carrig team and all of a sudden from the kick off they started putting the ball on the floor instead of the sky, with a few nice passes around the pitch, Tristan split the defensive high line and released Jack Ó Keeffe who brushed off 2 defenders and stuck the ball into the corner of the net, 1-1.
Carrigtwohill were now in the oppositions faces, harassing, the opposition and hunting in packs to get the ball back at every opportunity.
On 25 minutes some neat play from Ryan Collins and Luke Ó Connor on the wing created an overload which had Ryan Moore in acres of space, Ryan lifted his head and played a delicate ball into the path of Jack, who dinked the ball over the out rushing keeper 1-2 and game turned on its head.
Carrig were toying with the opposition now with Aaron Sheehan, Pranav and Charlie Cronin playing great balls into our attack on different occasions but final touch leaving us down.
On the stroke of HT Carrig extended their lead a beautiful ball whipped into the box by Sam Collins with his 5th assist in 3 games was met by the head of Ryan Moore and gave the goalkeeper no chance, 1-3,ht.
Carrigtwohill fought like lions in the second half when the opposition threw the kitchen sink at them, they all fought and stood up to some over the top challenges with Alex Kadula immense at the back.
On a night when the football wasn't pretty on the eye Carrigtwohill showed there other qualities, work rate, attitude, fight and togetherness with a sprinkle of quality got them over the line and into the Semis.
