Fermoy travelled to Ballyadam on a fine Saturday morning with contrasting agenda Carrig pushing for promotion and Fermoy knowing a loss would certainly see them relegated from Div 7 

 

Fermoy came out of the blocks fast and certainly did not  look like a team that were in that position. They controlled the game early  and Carrigtwohill found is very hard to hold the ball, control it or get any momentum going , was just too easy at times for Fermoy .

 

A few early chances for Fermoy where dealt with by Julian and it was Ciarán on the right side doing most of Carrigs work and getting great success with runs and supply.

After 10 mins, Fermoy were awarded a soft penalty but Julian pulled of a massive save and not for the first time this season.

 

Carrig at times moved the ball well and a great ball by Kuba put Scott through but his shot sailed over.

Liam on left was getting on a nice bit of ball but was left with limited options coming from midfield, Again it was ciarán getting the better of his man on the right pulling  one back to Scott but his shot deflected for a corner which resulted  in a back post header from ciaran which went wide.

 

Rotation gave us a bit more especially Isaac who did well at left back and Rian in the middle and Ryan in centre 

Another great chance came when Ciarán made a great  run and was taking down but to most spectators and coaches  surprise it was deemed just outside the box. The resulting free from Scott was saved 

 

We were lucky to get to half time with a draw as Fermoy where the better side overall.

After a good team talk the lads came out  a different team in the second half  but it was Fermoy who struck first 

After a fine cross on the right , Krystian who was excellent at centre back went to clear but just came off his boot and found the net nothing he could do.

 

The boys rallied from that Tom O again with excellent kick outs and long clearances held strong with Ryan, isaac and Kuba , all 4 clearing their lines with composure 

The midfield of ollie, Tom P , Rian , and Krytian were more involved , more tackling,  composure and  were now winning most duals , suppling ciaran and now more success  on the left to Liam and Dylan who were excellent with their runs into the box and deliveries and keeping the momentum going.

 

Because of this pressure , we were getting more frees and corners and each time the delivery from Scott and Tom O was excellent but we  could not convert.

Eventually  after a quick throw in,  it was Tom P who turned his man , his "messi" legs  dribbled past 2 defenders and  found himself one on one and finished to bottom corner.

 

Again we kept pushing and midfield now in control , Scott getting on a lot of ball for half chances .

Fermoy did have their chances but the defence held strong and Julian with safe handling and some fine saves .

With 10 mins to go , it again was Tom P just inside the box was taken down,  and a cool penalty converted by Scott to make it 2-1

Few more chances came and went , a great run through by Isaac who just shot wide .

With great relief the whistle went for  a hard worked win against a very good Fermoy team .
