Under-14 Girls CWSSL Premier Division
9th May 2026 at Ballyadam

Carrigtwohill United – 4
Carrigaline United – 0

With both teams safely secured in mid-table and nothing riding on the result, there was still plenty of motivation for Carrigtwohill going into their final league game of the season.
In their first ever campaign in the Premier Division, the girls had already achieved their main objective of retaining their top-flight status with four games to spare, and were determined to finish the season on a high.
Carrigtwohill started brightly and took control from the opening whistle with plenty of attacking intent. Their early pressure paid off after 10 minutes when Rachael Uyi Irabor found the net to give the home side a deserved lead.

Carrigaline responded well and looked to work their way back into the game, but strong defending from Carrigtwohill along with some excellent through balls from midfield continued to cause problems. Rachael Uyi Irabor was sent through on goal once again and was brought down in the box, leaving the referee with no hesitation in pointing to the spot. Olivia O’Sullivan stepped up confidently and converted the penalty to send Carrigtwohill into the break with a 2-0 advantage.

The second half proved to be a much more evenly contested affair, with Carrigaline pushing hard and forcing three outstanding saves from Carrigtwohill goalkeeper Zoe Cotter, who produced a superb display between the posts.

Carrigtwohill eventually regained control of the game thanks to relentless work from Eabha Murphy and Ava Kidney O’Brien in midfield. Their pressure created the opportunity for Molly Dennis, who curled a brilliant effort past the keeper to extend the lead.

Carrigtwohill continued to press forward and Ava Kidney O’Brien capped off an excellent performance with a superb long-range strike that flew high beyond the goalkeeper to seal the victory.
A strong finish to the season for Carrigtwohill in what has been a hugely positive first year in the Premier Division.

Player of the Match on the day went to Abbie O’Farrell for an outstanding all-round performance. Special mentions also to Olivia O’Sullivan, Rachael Uyi Irabor and Zoe Cotter, all of whom played huge roles in the victory.
Well done to both teams for a highly competitive and sporting contest, and also to referee Stephen Walsh for officiating the game.
