Report:
Carrigtwohill welcomed high flying Carrigaline of the Premier division to Ballyadam for the semi-final of the local cup.
In a very tight game, Carrigtwohill certainly didn't seem out of place against Premier opposition and had some great chances on another day would of found the net.
Carrig set the tone straight from the kick off and were in the oppositions face, closing every player down and not giving them a moments rest.
On 8 minutes Carrig had a half chance when some lovely link up play from Ryan Moore and Jack ó Keeffe found Jack in space at the edge of the box, his shot curling just wide of the upright.
On 20 minutes a brilliant tackle from Alex Kadula in the box somehow ended up with a penalty to the opposition, justice was served when Christopher Ó Reilly made a remarkable save,0-0ht
Carrigtwohill started brightly in the second half as some nice play from Ryan M and Sam Collins on the left released Darragh Leahy who played a glorious ball to Jack at the edge of the box, Jack passed the defender with ease and his shot came back off the post and fell at his feet but somehow his shot was saved off the keepers shoulder and out for a corner
On 55 minutes Carrig again went close when Ryan M rounded 2 defenders and beat the keeper from a tight angle but his shot hit the inside of the post and somehow came out and cleared
On 65 minutes Jack went close with a bullet of a shot that the keeper tipped over the bar.
With 3 minutes remaining the opposition launched a free deep into Carrigs box and after a ricochet fell nicely to the striker and he headed in 0-1.
Carrigtwohill pressed for an equaliser and conceded a breakaway goal with the last kick of the game,0-2ft.
An unbelievable cup run came to an end, along the way we've beaten Premier opposition and these boys from Carrigtwohill have shown there a match for any team in Cork.
On a different day things could of been different but Carrigtwohill leave the competition with their heads held high.
