Under-16A Cork Schoolboys League Division 6

Carrigtwohill United - 4
Mallow Town - 3
Report:
Today saw us travel to Mallow Town knowing that if we win our final two games, the least we can secure is a playoff for the league title.
It was a very tough first half and we found it difficult to settle against a strong and physical Mallow side. After 20 minutes, we conceded a penalty and went 1–0 down. Thankfully, we had an in-form Sam Dolan on the day, and he produced some moments of magic. Sam struck twice to turn the game around, and we went into the break leading 2–1.
We started the second half much better and began to get a real grip on the game. Our dominance was rewarded when Ryan Barry finished brilliantly to put us 3–1 up.
We looked comfortable at that stage, but after conceding from a corner kick, Mallow got back in the game. Just a couple of minutes later, they had equalised and the score was suddenly 3–3.
With so much at stake, the lads understandably looked a little nervous, but they showed great character to respond and drive each other forward. After some excellent play down the left wing by Jack Coneelly we won a free kick from 20 yards out. Sam Dolan stepped up and completed his hat-trick in style, firing a superb free kick directly into the net to make it 4–3.
There were still a few tense moments to see out but Luke in goal showed great handling and positioning throughout. The lads showed great composure and determination to hold on for a great victory
Sam Dolan was simply outstanding, producing some real magic throughout the game. Ryan Barry and Odhran also delivered excellent performances, while every single player worked tirelessly for the team.
Fair play to all the lads. One more huge game to go, and we’ll see where it takes us.
Carrigtwohill Scorers: Sam Dolan x3, Ryan Barry x1
