Carrigtwohill United – 1
Lyre Rovers – 2

Both teams started brightly. A lot of football being played in the middle of the field. Grace Meade and Lucy Cashman teaming up to keep Lyre on the back foot.
Lyre looked threatening on a few occasions but a strong back line of Rachel Barry, Eorann McGrath, Cornelia Holland and Karolina Wachowska cleared their lines well.

Lyre were gifted a few shots on goal but was denied confidently by the Carrig keeper Nicola O Sullivan.

At 27 minutes Lyre made a pass through the lines which ended with their no 10 scoring.

The girls didn’t let it affect their game and got straight back to it. Carrig chased down the equaliser.
A great piece of play through the pitch played in Sarah Brophy on the wing. The Lyre defender kicking it out for a throw. Rachel Barry taking it quickly to play Neasa in on goal. Neasa passing the ball across the goal landing to Rachel Walsh who shot the ball just wide.

A quick kick out by Lyre pushed everyone back the pitch. Lyre no10 got her foot to the ball first with her initial strike saved by Nicola only for the rebound to go in.

There was great moments of play between the Carrig girls for the remainder of the half.  Neasa pushing for a goal before the whistle.

The second half started much like the first although the Carrig team were the more controlled one.

A perfect play out from the back  made its way to Bláthín in the centre.
A through ball to Martyna Kaczmarczyk who spotted Katie Looney free on the wing.
A meticulously calm top corner placed goal
It almost happened in slow motion.

The girls were well in it now. Taking every opportunity to press the ball forward.
Ceire Lougheed  and Katie Looney playing amazing football with Christine O Regan on the wing causing trouble for the Lyre defence.

Carrig really pushing strong now. Martyna taking her shot from outside the box but it was  collected by the keeper.

Continued pressure from Carrig  kept Lyre in their own half. Any stray balls that made it back were cleared with ease by Sarah Meighan and Cornelia Holland.

An exciting attack at 70 minutes saw Martyna make a pass across the box to Katie Looney who shot a low ball
which was saved by an outstretched foot of the keeper.

Rachel Walsh dropping to fill in right back created a great opportunity to send in some long balls to Jill Long and Martyna. Carrig looked ever deserving of the equaliser but unfortunately the clock ran out.

It was an amazing performance by every player that shared the pitch tonight. Thanks to Lyre for making the journey to Ballyadam for the game.
